Architecture river cruise in Chicago

We are going to Chicago in about 10 days and want to do the architecture river cruise. I understand there are about 3 coupanies , any suggestions of which one to choose. If weather does not permit to do the river cruise any recommendations for a walking tour? Thanks,

That is the tour that I did in August. I really enjoyed it.

Enjoy Chicago. It is easily one of my favorite cities.

Here is a link to my trip report. Hopefully it can help you with your trip, if needed.

I think most folks view the Chicago Arch Foundation tours, reference above, is the best. Their office is on Michigan Ave near the Art Museum.

PS. The waking tours offered by the Foundation are very good.

Another vote for the Chicago Architecture Foundation tour. I've lived in the Chicago suburbs for over 25 years. My son and I took the tour for the first time this past August. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. We're looking forward to taking it again with the rest of our family.

The one by the Chicago Historical Society is excellent too.

Hi Tidy,

I am also heading to Chicago in 3 weeks. What do you have planned for restaurants(if any)? I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the info. I'll be there 4 nights but only have one restaurant reservation so far at Mercat a la Planxa.

I am planning on doing the Chicago First Lady Tour.

Mary
Rick Bayless is chef of Frontera Grill and Topolobampo - both highly recommended.

Rhea,

Thanks for the rec. It is a bit wierd but just yesterday I was trying to make a reservation there, however, Open Table can't make the reservation at that restaurant for more than 5 people.

Hi there -
For a great steak dinner, you can't beat the Chicago Chop House.

Also - on a trip this past summer, I went to the Rosebud on Rush for Italian. It was outstanding. My friend and I couldn't make a decision, so they allowed us to split two main courses and the sides.
Chicago is the best city by far!
Enjoy!!

OK, NOW THIS IS GETTING REALLY WIERD! I just made reservations for Chop House yesterday! Thanks Lacy.

I called Frontera directly and got a reservation for 6. Thanks Rhea.
