Apple Core hotels

I am planning a booking with one of these hotels on the recommendations on this board for good budget hotels. Prices are (including tax) 1008 dollars for 3 nights at Comfort Inn whilst the others Red Roof, Ramada, Quinta and Super 8 are all showing at 1042 dollars. I dont know why the Comfort Inn comes out slightly less - can anyone put the hotels in a pecking order for me? I am very much hoping that I can get a quite room at the back somewhere, facing onto another hotel rather than overlooking a busy street! Many, many thanks.

I like the Comfort Inn Midtown, and chose it because it's all-nonsmoking. Ask for a room on the 6th floor or higher, unless you want to take a chance on a view of an air shaft.

In that case, pick the CI Midtown immediately as it is the best. ;)Pecking order starting with "best"

CI Midtown

Red Roof

Super 8
Ramada

La Quinta

I had to google "Apple Core hotels"...couldn't imagine someone naming their company after the one part of the apple one has to spit out as it's all but inedible! :) Now I understand how the name might apply--on several different levels. Still, the name seems counterproductive for the business...much like I feel Blimpie's is for a sandwich shop. Why would I want to eat anywhere where the word Blimpie is associated with their food???

Sorry for the aside Hilary. Have a nice trip.

OO, how funny. I've heard of those hotels and that thought never occurred to me. I just took it as they are at the center of the Big Apple, hence the "core". So if you want to be at the "center of the big apple" you stay there.

But Blimpey's -- how true. But then there are also places like "Fat Al's" or "The Pig". Same thing.

Right...I didn't realize from the OP that it was NYC, so it made little sense until Googling it. Should have realized however, with those prices for Red Roof, Comfort Inn, and Super 8!

How about the grocery chain Piggly Wiggly? Doesn't have quite the same ring as Whole Foods, does it? LOL

OO, the worst were those nasty little rat things Quizno's used.

I hope they walked away from the crack pipe.

I agree with the Comfort Inn. Just because it is cheapest doesn't mean there is something wrong with the hotel.

Stay at a comfort inn for sure, don't go to suoer 8 if you want to stay in the back with rats. I just saw rates at the best Western President for 239.00 a night at the end of October weekend. I was looking to go thurs-monday. i thought the price was good, now the first weeknend in nov. is the NYC marathon, so rooms are really outrageous.
