AOA card worth it?
I'm getting married in Maui Decmber,2000 and was wondering if the AOA card would be useful (we'll be a group of about 25 and will be doing a lot of activities).
Thanks!
Derek,

I was in Maui for a very short five days in July, 1999. Had the Entertainment book and the AOA card. Definitely got more out of the AOA card. Used it for half price on the Mt. Haleakala sunrise bike trip, a luau, parasailing, and wanted to do the Trilogy Excursion to Lanai, but ran out of time. The best part of the AOA is joining early (membership good for one year) and then call their office a month before you go to see what half-price tickets they have for various activities. If you just present the membership card at activities, you get maybe 15-25% off. The number of these half-price tickets are limited, and I think they get new ones at the start of each month. Ask them to fax you a list of what they have. They did it for me. For myself and my two friends, saved over $300, at least.
What exactly is the AOA card? I immediately thought American Optometric Association, then I thought it was a typo and was supposed to be AAA, but I can see from the first response that there is an AOA card. Anyone?
|
AOA is Activity Owners Association. I bought one, and got my money's worth out of it for just one excursion that my mom and I did (the Trilogy trip to Lanai). You can get the card at www.maui.org and also see a list there of activity discounts you get with the card. I think the card cost $30. It is good for discounts for up to 4 family members on the same card.

And I thought AOA stood for 'Any Other Agents ?' as in 'are there any other travel agents posting on this forum ?'.
|
Sheesshh, you travel agents are everywhere!!!!
|
OK Magnum, are you a secret agent or a secret travel agent ? Take a letter Miss Funnyfanny......
|
Hey, Jimmy, er, I mean, James. How've you been? Been to any good luaus lately?
|
Hi Magnum ( May I call you Maggy ? ). Are "Luaus" what you call "Loos" in Hawaii ? ( I always thought they were "Johns" ). I haven't visited any facilities of distinction since the SMERSH restrooms in Moscow ( I was installing a "bug" at the time so ha

OOPS just had to deal with SPECTRE...
Where was I ?, had to disguise myself as a travel agent that was too large to flush.....
Smiert Spionam,

007.

Derek,

I am not a travel agent. I am only recommending the AOA card because I thought it was a great bargain for myself or anyone interested in doing lots of activities. If you are only going to Maui to relax and lay on the beach, then you wouldn't need it. Not saying that laying on the beach isn't a worthwhile activity, but if you prefer something a little more active.... AOA membership is great.

Sandi
Dereck and Sandi,

Don't worry about James Bond and Magnum. This is the same guy as earplugs and Q. He is insanely jealous of anyone who does travel so he spends all day making stupid commens on this board. He truly is a pathetic soul and I hope he gets professional help soon.

I appreciated you comments on the AOA card we are going to Hawaii in March . I think I will look into it. Thanks!

Derek and Sandi

One more thing, this earplugs, magnum, Q guy has a tendency to forget which alias he is using and often signs in under a real person's name by accident. (see above)

mms
