Anywhere fun to visit between Tampa and Pensacola?

I am wondering if anyone can recommend anywhere to stop somewhere between Tampa and Pensacola? Ideally somewhere 'American' and 'cultural'. We are visiting from England, and trying to break up the drive.
Thanks for any responses.

Consider the Apalachicola area as a place to stop for the night. You can do your own search here, but here is a recent thread to get you started: http://www.fodors.com/community/unit...icola-area.cfm

A good place to have dinner is the Owl Cafe http://www.owlcafeflorida.com/

I was going to say Apalachicola too -

If you are going to spend the night, consider St George Island.

Thanks :) That coast looks beautiful. Apalachicola it is- and yes we plan to stay the night, there are some nice B&B's that look perfect. Looking forward to dinner at the Owl Cafe.
