Anywhere from Vegas

We are going to Las Vegas in February on business for 2 or 3 days. I would like to make a week long vacation out of it. Where is somewhere we can drive that is no more then 4 hour drive and we won't run into icy roads or snow? @ or 3 days in Vegas is all I can stand. The grand canyon sounds great, but won't we have to do slippery roads to get there? L.A. is not an option (can't stand it). I am really bad at geography so any help is appreciated. Thanks.

L.A. is not the only town in southern CA. What about San Diego? Jet Blue flies LV to Long Beach.

If you can't find anything you like in LA, which is not one city but about a hundred with all kinds of diffence ambiance, then I doubt you will be able to find anywhere you like.
How can anyone not like any of the following:

Padadena
Santa Monica
Beverly Hills
Hollywood
Westwood
West Hollywood

And how can anyone lump all of those and more into one statement "I can't stand it"?

Sedona is about 5 hours.

Or you could do day trips from LV to Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam, Mt. Charleston.

Zion National Park and southern Utah's color country are within your four hour range. Ice and snow are possibilities but there are many mid-winter days when they are not a factor. If you are flexible in your planning you could check out road conditions on arrival in LV.

Sedona, hmmm, is there a possibility of running into icy or snowy conditions trying to get there? We have to drive. You're right about there being more to Ca. besides LA, but we have done that-alot. Oh Patrick, I actually do like Pasadena but not for more then a day. Call me crazy, I do not care for the glitz and glamour of La la land and thats including BH, WH and SM, even Malibu. I'm sure its a super place to live, but the sterileness and artificalness of the whole So. Cal. experience creeps me out. Give me the grit of the east coast anytime. P.S, I'm in Kansas!

Just 10 miles outside of Las Vegas is Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

About 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas is Valley of Fire State Park.

Both would be worth a day each.

Zion would be my first choice but I haven't been in February so I don't know if you would run into icy roads.

There's always Death Valley!
