Buffalo is a wonderful city. The outskirts are nicer. The burbs are really pretty...lots of contemporary houses and tons of malls and plazas to go to.

I love to eat a Buffalo burger. Very low i n fat, high in protein, and delicious. There. That's something nice to say.

Some very good music comes out of Buffalo. The group moe who are akin to one of those long jam bands such as Phish (but better than Phish).
On the musical front no doubt the city's greatest contribution has been Ani DiFranco who is one of the most talented singer/songwriter/guitar players to come along in the last 50 years. She doesn't get much radio play because at the age of 19 she turned down a recording contract with a major record company because they wanted her to tart herself up. She started up her own record company and has been producing at least an album a year since then. If all Buffalo ever does is produce an Ani DiFranco that's more than most cities can boast.

I like Buffalo, cold as heck but they have done a great. One of the best things is, you will be 45min. to Toronto where you can shop shop shop with a 1.60 dollar!

I love Buffalo. I am a native and love it here. We have a beautiful Fall, Spring and Winter. Summertime is absolutely gorgeous also. The weather isn't THAT bad. Our reputation was ruined frm the Blizzard of 77. I have had people ask me if it is snowing in BUffalo (while on vacation)in mid July.! Give me a break! Don't knock Buffalo until you try it!

We now have about 3" of snow and it looks beautiful. The sun is shining and the winter white coating on the trees and bushes is gorgeous.

The post may be two years old but hopefully other people are plannign a trip to Buffao and may find the info useful. I went there recently and look forward to returning (but only when the weather is warm!). As a native and long time rsident of Syracuse I can attest to the economic issues that face central and western NY. The job market tends to be very tight and in many occupations, wages are far lower than they are in other areas (particularly the NYC metro tri-state area). Housing in those areas tends to be a bargain but property and school taxes, especially in the Syracuse area, are outrageous - they add up annually to about 3.5% of the market value of the house. The entire region is still a well kept secret as a travel destination. It may not be the spot for a dream vacation but it has much to offer that is frequently overlooked.

Oh.... on the music scene..... Ani DiFranco is great and a real inspiration but .moe is from the Utica area. I'm heading up to Syracuse today for the holiday and hoping the snow isn't too bad. Yuch! Best wishes to all for a good Thanksgiving.
