anyone used Hotel Reservation Network?

Has anyone had any experience with Hotel Reservation Network? I've called their 800 number and have found that they do offer a substancial saving on rooms, but I'm wondering if anyone that has used them has had any problems at check in? Thanks for your help.

Janine---I have used them about four or five times and have never had a problem with the integrity of the booking with the hotel. Just make sure you have the best rate before booking by double-checking with the hotel (sometimes they have rack rates that are lower) and a travel agent. I think they can save you money sometimes but others maybe not. good luck.

We used them in San Fran a few years back. Had no problems at all. You do have to pay up front for the total amount of your stay (rate + taxes). I would use them again, but would always check with the hotel (web site, reservations line) to see if it really is a better deal.

Thank you so much for the feed back. It certainly helps to know others have used them with success. Janine

Janine, if you haven't already, you can also access HRN via their web site at http://www.180096hotel.com/. You can get maps and pictures of most of the hotels. This is how we booked our reservation.

I have to say that I have used them and it worked out well. On our trip to New Orleans, Dec 6-10, I had checked out the hotels from 1800hotel.com and found one that I thought we would like Maison Dupuy in the French Quarter - liked the looks of it and the price. I called the hotel directly and they said they were booked for those dates! So, I e-mailed 1800hotel.com and a message came back saying that they had rooms for those dates-and the rate was the same as the hotel $99 ea night-king size bed. So I booked thru them and received a confirmation number-I used a credit card. Then, a few days later-I called the hotel to verify that we had the room - and no problem - we had them. I did make a print out of the confirmation and had it w/me when we checked in, but I didn't need it. It really worked out well for us - I hope that you have the same experience.

We've used them many times for Boston with fabulous rates (best off season) and no problems whatsover. Once, when checking in, our designated room was non-smoking, and when I insisted that I had indicated smoking, we were upgraded to an amazing suite at no extra charge. HOWEVER, last year, when checking rates for NYC, I was able to obtain the SAME rate by calling the hotel directly, and without paying in full in advance. Lately, in my experience, this holds true more often than not no matter where I decide to book. So, check rates and availability at HRN, call the hotel directly, then make your decision. Once in a while the reservations clerk claims no knowledge of the rates offered at HRN, but nearly always, they immediately agree to match the rate.

Thanks to everyone for all the information. I feel much more comfortable making reservations through this company having read your comments.
