Anyone stayed @ Le Meridien NO?
 

Just looking for opinions on the Le Meridien in New Orleans. Staying there Memorial Day weekend. It is a gift by someone else, so there is no changing to another hotel. <BR>Thanks!!

why not query in the box where you can do an exact phrase search? This is how I found out rave reviews about the place we are staying in. Robbin

While it was a nice hotel, it simply didn't have any of the real New Orleans flair that so many others DO have. I feel the same about the Windsor Court, which is as nice a hotel as I've ever stayed in. My husband's and my current favorite is the Royal Sonesta. It's right in the thick of activity...but if you stay there be sure to ask for a room overlooking the pool/courtyard rather than one overlooking Bourbon St. Those are loud!! If you want outside the French Quarter and don't particularly care about the local flavor, the Windsor Court might be what you prefer. The rooms are suites and beautiful! Le Meridien New Orleans is fine. It's a typical big boxy 500-room hotel, but the rooms are lovely and the staff is competent. It's also just across Canal from the Quarter, so the location is good. The hotel restaurant is wonderful, too, but typically overpriced.

Stayed there several years ago and would definitely return. Its location is great for the French Quarter, without the disadvantages (noise,congestion, usually smaller rooms)normally associated with lodging in the Quarter itself. The rooms are very nice and it makes a fine home base for your stay.

I was surprised to see that one of my earlier posts and been inserted in response to this question! Given the opportunity, I'd have responded a little differently considering the room is a gift. The Meridien is a lovely hotel in a good location. However, for the reasons I mentioned in the other post, if I were planning a trip to New Orleans and had the opportunity to select a hotel, I'd probably opt for something else. Having said that, I sure wish someone would give ME a gift like this!!

Stacey - Le Meridien is fine. Outdoor pool, small gym, nice happy hour, pleasant surroundings. Across Canal St. from Palace Cafe (excellent). Behind that restaurant or down other side streets is the Quarter. Easy walking distance to St. Charles, too. Haved stayed there 3-4 times on business.

Le Meridien is a great hotel! The restaurant Medi is fantastic, we were there a week ago and loved it. Also, the hotel has, in my opinion, one of the best jazz bars, with live New Orleans entertainers. We saw Jeremy Davenport when we were there, and he is simply wonderful.

<BR>I stayed at Le Meridien a few years ago for a conference. The staff was very nice and the room was comfortable, even had a phone in the bathroom. The room was quiet so I could get a good nights rest for the next day, but still convenient for nightlife.
