Anyone stayed at Ritz Carlton in Naples, FL?

I am trying to convince my wife to go to the Ritz Carlton in Naples rather than another trip to Hawaii. Since about all we do is lounge around the beach and pool, and maybe play some golf I figured why spend all the time and money to go to Hawaii. We have been to Naples and seen the outside of the Ritz Carlton but wondering from those who have stayed there how it was. Nice pools, beach, rooms? Are there alot of children? What type of room would people recommend? General impressions. Also if anyone knows of any way to get a good rate, that would be appreciated too.

I stayed there in December, 1999, for 4 days. Everything about the place is outstanding. There were programs for the children, but I don't think there were a lot of children there. There is a great little casual restaurant right on the beach, and I actually went back there just for lunch last March. The staff anticipate your every need; the food in the restaurants and room service is excellent. This Ritz has won the Baldridge Award for Quality four times, and I can see why.

This hotel has been rated the best hotel in the United States by one of the big travel magazines.

I have stayed at the Ritz for the past two summers and it is wonderful! I have gotten summer rates as low as $125/night. I am not sure if that has changed since they just opened a brand new spa (incentive for your wife). The pool area is beautiful and the service is great. THe lobby is gorgeous and great afternoon tea.

Mike: <BR>I agree with your 'logic' and if you and your wife enjoy nice hotels, I believe you'll find the proposed trip a nice change of pace from Hawaii. Sure Hawaii is practically unbeatable for diversity, ambience, etc etc, but the convenience and cost factors going to Naples make for a nice trade-off. And if you go during summer, you'll even find the rates quite reasonable (considering the quality of the accommodations). The Ritz Naples is right up there with the best Ritzes in the world.

....oh yes, forgot to mention that the Club Level at the Ritz naples is particularly worthwhile if the rate differential is reasonable.

It's a good alternative, and the hotel IS wonderful, AND, you will find the beach on the Gulf side warm and wonderful, although the weather will be quite HOT! Also, as you make your way down Ocean Blvd. (can't quite remember the name), I think you will find that it actually will remind you of Hawaii itself just a bit (without the mountains, of course)!
