Anyone rented from Remax Kauai?

I am renting a private home from Remax in Princeville, Kauai for a portion of my December vacation. I was just wondering if anyone has rented through Remax in Kauai. I know that each property rented is privately owned, but I'm sure Remax has responsibility for keeping things neat, tidy, and ready to go for each vacationer renting their properties. I'm hoping they do a good job with this.

Might be better to post property and see who has stayed. I had an experience that was poor that did not reflect the care of the management. It was in princeville, the owner lied about air conditioning, the overwhelming presence of mold (we had an asthmatic with us ), the stove was broken. When we went to the pua poa property management office they told us to write a letter to the board. This owner was breaking rent rules, without a stove?? ...they just wanted our documentation.

Might want to just post the property and see if any one else has been here. It's always going to be a crap shoot on a condo rental, but you can always make the best of it because lets face it, you will be in shangrala. We did even though we had wheezers (mold) and found ourselves cooking on hot plates. and no air in july, mid day. It all worked out and I am only reminded of it because of your question.

I've seen people on this board and the Trip Advisor post good experiences about using Remax Kauai. I think you'll be fine!

Thanks for the advice Sarah. I did try that method already, and I didn't have any success finding anyone who stayed in the same home.

Remax is a very reputable real estate company here on Kaua`i. I'm sure they will take very good care of you.

Which house are you renting?

Auntie marie,

We are renting Keoniana Kai, which I have heard wonderful things about. And by the way, you have offered very thoughtful info to a few of my posts, and I greatly appreciate it. It's always nice to get info from those that are "in the know." I love this forum!

lesm that looks like a very nice unit I am sure all will go well. You know the poor experience I mentioned was in a nice facility but it was one of the cheaper rentals some times bargains can end up like that. I have rented 3 times on the NS of Kauai and about 5 times on Oahu, once on the big island. Most people want your repeat business.

We stayed at that house and LOVED it! So much so that we are planning on returning next summer. I would be glad to answer any questions about it. It exceeded our expectations!

Ashley,

Great to hear you had a good experience. I read your posts from 2005 and they were great. Do you have any pics of the house. I have seen the ones on Remax, and one other site, but was wondering if you have anything additional?

A few more questions for you since you offered so generously:

-How was the hot tub?
-Are there lounge chairs for tanning outside?
-There's a BBQ, right?
-How's the kitchen?
-I hope the master bedroom has a king bed??
-Where would you recommend for grocery shopping in the area?
-How was your experience with Remax? Did you have to stop by their office to pick up a key for the house?
-How was Sea Lodge beach below the house?

Ok, well I have probably picked your brain enough for now. Thanks again for sharing your experiences.

Keoniana Kai is handled by quite a few vacation rental agencies -- to see more photos, just use google.com to search for the house.

You'll be just down the street from us, and you'll love that house!

auntiemarie, You are SOOOO lucky if you live in that area! Gorgeous houses in paradise!

Anyway, I will do my best to answer your questions, lesm.

The hot tub was very nice. At night, you could make the water change colors. Kinda cool feature!

Yes, there are lounge chairs, at least 2 if not more.

There is a Weber BBQ grill, charcoal, on the top deck. We never used it.

The kitchen was VERY nice, with a large mirror behind the counter so that even if your back is facing the ocean, you can still see it! They even left a bunch of supplies, food, etc.

I am pretty sure the master bed was a king. Very comfortable bed with a view of the water from it. The towels were high end (Ralph Lauren).

Our experience with Remaxx was good. They gave us a code for the box on the door which had the key inside.

The house was nicely landscaped so you didn't feel like you were in a subdivision. As far as the beach, it was also succluded. It was a bit hard to get to with a steep embankment. However, our two dds, 10 and 7, were able to make it.

The best part of this nicely decorated house was the view which you could see from almost every room in the house! Plus, the walls that opened up...awesome! We can't wait to return next summer. My two dd's would rather return to "The House", as they call it, then the Hyatt on Kauai or the 4 Seasons on Maui! Enjoy!

We rented a VRBO unit in June that was handled by ReMax Princeville. Everything was handled well, and they even allowed us to ship a few supplies over to be held at their office until we got to the island.

We've always used them in the past and know they are very professional and do a fantastic job. In fact, we are going back in October and renting a home in Princeville through them again. I wouldn't use anyone else for our Kauai trip.
