Anyone Know What's going on in DC this Week?
I've been traveling there regularly on business lately and have not had trouble finding reasonable hotel prices. I'm going later this week and prices are much higher than usual.
Just curious as to whether anyone knew if there was something major going on that is causing prices to jump. |
While I don't know what's going on there this week, I do know that frequently there are conventions held in various locations in D.C. (I've been to several there) so that could be it. If you're trying to stay in a particular area or hotel where you usually stay, why don't you call the hotel and ask them what's going on? Or you may want to consider staying in a different area than you usually stay in.
D.C. is pretty large. Where specifically are you trying to stay and someone may be able to give you a better answer. |
DC hosts several smaller conventions this week, but I suspect that the event that is creating the issue is the AAD which has 23 hotels on its housing list. I'm not sure of the total attendance but anyhting that involves that many hotels is pretty big.

According to the convention center web site (http://www.dcconvention.com/), this convention has a listed attendance of 17,500. That's a lot of hotel rooms.

Hope your plans don't include a visit to the senate, here is link:
