Anyone know anything about Sea Island, GA?
 

I am standing up in a wedding that takes place there in Sept 2003.<BR><BR>Can anyone point me to any websites or resources with more info?<BR><BR>Thanks!

I believe it was one of the last bastions of slavery in the Old South, with many of the descendents of the slaves still living there...

Sea Island is home to The Coister Hotel, a beautiful faclity that offers the American Plan for dining. It has an excellent dining room, a great golf course and many weddings take place at this hotel. It is also a favorite honeymoon spot. I am not sure if they have a website. There are many beautiful homes located on the island also. You will enjoy seeing Jekyll Island, while you are there. Also you might go to St. Simons Island. Those islands have many good seafood resturants.

We just stayed there over the 4th of July weekend. We stayed at the Lodge (affiliated with the Cloister mentioned above). It was definately a SPLURGE weekend as it cost a fortune, but there were other places to stay and other things to do. Where is the wedding? At a residence or at a resort? <BR><BR>In any case, it's a gorgeous area, and the weather should be great in Sep. July was HOT!!!<BR><BR>don't know any particular websites besides www.cloister.com I would simply search for both sea island and st simons island to find more info on the area and some good maps. We had no problem finding our way around driving.<BR><BR>HAVE FUN!

And man are those descendants sittin on a gold mine! Those developers are foaming at the mouth, for this is some of the most prime reat estate in the U.S. If they sell hope they make a fortune, they had a article in paper and same ol story about greedy developers!

Sea Island is a small island off of Saint Simons Island. It is the home of the Cloister Hotel. Unless you are a guest of the hotel you must go to St. Simons for all accomodations, dining, entertainment, etc. A few sites to check are <BR><BR>saintsimonsislandga.areaguides.net<BR>sain tsimons.com<BR><BR>Enjoy your stay!
