OO, you need to rephrase your question:

If that couple came up to you in the airport in Jamaica asking for money, AND IT WAS BEING RECORDED ON CAMERA, what would you have done??

I bet alot more people would donate with a camera watching.

But that begs (hee hee) another question too: why did U&J decide to go to the airport to beg money, instead of go to the road and beg a ride to the Onion Shack? They made it clear they were in opposite directions...I don't understand that part.

Marilyn, what we Fodorites wouldn't give to see jorr in suede mini and heels...

PS to OO: your guess was correct, the producers provide credit cards for the plane. I think they can only book once though, so they have to shop around and be careful which flight they choose.

I think they went to the airport to beg for money because there were more people there (I think it was still the middle of the night). If they hitch hiked to the Onion Shack & did not have a taxi waiting, how would they have continued to the onion chopping place without any money?

I still think the Show got them on the flight with Romber.

Marilyn, one thing I'd guarantee is that NONE of the men could have defeated any of the women in the limbo contest. By back hurt just imagining myself competing in that contest. Cudos to the gals.

True, Shane. In general, men have more upper body strength, women are more flexible. To really go low, you need strong thighs, and then to let your head drop at the last minute as you push yourself forward. Joyce didn't quite get the head drop -- that's why they ended up 15 minutes behind.

Frankly, I'd like to see more contests that involve brains/figuring things out or dexterity, and a little less sheer physical strength. It would reward the smarter teams instead of the stronger.

Count me in as just one more fan of Uchenna and Joyce. I was totally into this season and the finale kept me up past my bedtime. Call me a wus, but I was bawling when U. made the comment about using the $ for in-vitro or adoption. They are a great couple and are the type of people I could picture hanging out with...

I'm surprised that more people did not give U and J money in the airport considering that they had a camera crew with them. I would have given them money just to get on TV with them. I've heard other teams on the show tell people that they are on a race in order to get money. If the other travelers are Americans, odds are that they are familiar with the show. I guess there aren't that many other wanna be TV stars out there. LOL!

Here's the bottom line Marilyn. Men have more upper body strength because since the invention of the wheel men have been doing all the tire changing. Women on the other hand were busy managing the goats so they didn't get out of the cart while he was changing the wheel. That is why women are better managers and men are better football players.

So if you are wondering why women are at a football game managing the "kids" and watching only men playing football think about the centuries of broken down goat carts.

This concludes my non-politically correct lesson for the day.

LOL, jorr, sort of brawn vs brains, right?

Meanwhile, back at TAR, does anyone know what happens to racers after they are eliminated? Do they remain somewhere in seclusion like the Survivor cast offs, until the race is finished?

I believe they do go to a TAR Sequesterville, otherwise their friends and neighbors would know that they had been eliminated and someone, somewhere would figure out who the final three were.

The contestants are not sequester. They are "kept quiet" through iron clad contracts, the threat of being sued, and probabally through non disclosed prize money for the losers which will be given after the final episode is aired. Its all about keeping quiet in order to get checks from the producers.

I believe I had read once (don't recall which AR season it was) that after the teams were eliminated, they spent time touring parts of Europe on the show's dime.

I suppose the reasoning was to mask the order of elimination - everyone gets sent home around the same time.

While the contestants themselves are under contract, Joe Schmo living next door to them is not. So if a contestant comes home 1 week after departing to film the show, it wouldn't be so hard to figure out that they'd been eliminated.

I am sooo glad U&J won. The nice guys finished first for once! And I do wonder what happened with the pilot incident, perhaps he didn't like Romber, who knows! Hubby was still cheering for Romber till the end but I think the most deserving couple came out #1.

They are sequestered until the taping of the show is complete, not until it's been shown on tv here. After the taping is finished and they go home, then they are bound by contract to say nothing. Saying nothing includes not having internet blogs while the show is running, giving weekly accounts of what happened, like Meredith and Gretchen had, until it powers-that-be discovered it and made them take it down.

Two interesting tidbits: Gretchen said that the blog was not their creation; they told a "friend" some things, who then posted the blog without M&G's knowledge or approval.

Also, on the contestants going home and being under a gag order: Uchenna said it was so hard to go home and not be able to explain to their friends about Joyce's shaved head. Everyone was asking them if she'd had chemo!

Have to make an additional comment about the begging...

I can't believe that U & J didn't go around the plane from SJU to MIA and ask for $$$. Would seem like the perfect place to pick up a bit of extra cash.

So glad they won.

They must have told their "friend" a lot, which they weren't supposed to do either. I read some of the entries and it certainly seemed that whoever wrote it either had first-hand knowledge.
