Anyone ever been to Fallon, NV?

Planning a trip to Fallon to visit a mine and wanted to know if anyone has visited the area? or stayed in any of the local hotels?
I heard it's a 7+hour drive from LV!!

I've only passed through Fallon, and I would say the hotels are probably the usual hotel chains. I also understand there are several mines in the area. The 7+ hour drive from LV is on a two lane road.

Thank you for the info!
I figured the drive was on a bigger highway?!

Thanks

Fallon is notable for its military base - Air Force, I believe. We've spent time with family in Fallon on two different occasions.

Although not close to Vegas you can find other interesting places nearby including Reno, Lake Tahoe, Virginia City (an old mining town), mountain getaways, etc.

Fallon is pretty much a small military town, I've not stayed there, but passed through coming from Reno. I recall seeing motels of the Easy 8 variety. Also a very welcome looking Foster's Freeze.

It could be a 7+ hour drive, but I'd say that's based on distance, and the fact that the roads to get there aren't exactly direct. Looking at my map, I'd guesstimate that you could probably do it in closer to 5-6 hours, even if it is a 2-lane road.

Take lots of cold drinks with you, that's a long hot drive, and not a lot of places to stop along the way.
