Anyone eat at Esca recently?
I was planning on taking my husband to Esca for his birthday. I got reservations and was excited until I saw some less than favorable reviews on another board. Should I disregard these reviews or have others had recent negative experiences there.Thanks.

Where is Esca?

It's a Southern Italian seafood restaurant in NYC. I have heard good reviews about it but have not been. It sounds wonderful to me! ***kim*** :)

kim, that isn't the only Esca.

If you are referring to the seafood rest. @ 9th AVE & 43, NYC the food
is quite good but be prepared to pay for same. |
Esca is a big pre-theater destination. The food is very good, but I would make reservations for after 8pm to avoid the crowds. There tasting menu is probably the way to go.

Kim wouldn't know that because she's never been to New York! She searches Google for information to post. We ate at Esca years ago when it first opened and loved it. We went back about a year ago and were treated so shabbily that I would never return! We had a reservation (late night after theater) and waited endlessly for a table. When we tried to ask what was up we were treated extremely rudely. We ended up leaving at eating at Le Madelaine accross the street. We just ate at Le Madelaine again last week and I related this story to them, they told me that 'many people' come to them from Esca after being treated badly! I am not surprised!

Thanks Susan 56, I need something close to The Producers, maybe I will give Le Madelaine a try .
