Anyone been to Yachets, Oregon?
 

Will want to stay for a couple of days in the O. Coast, what is there?

Cannot find much info., looks like a small town, that we would hope doesn't get 'discovered'.

We live not far from Yachats in the Willamette Valley. Yachats IS a very small town--only a few restaurants and hotels, not much shopping and I don't think there is any nightlife. But the coast in that area is beautiful! Cape Perpetua, to the south, is spectacular. There is an awesome sushi restaurant, Yuzen, north in Seal Rock. Lots of state beaches and waysides all along the coast highway in that area--sandy beaches, rocky beaches, tide pools, etc. Not sure exactly what else you want to know, but it is definitely a beautiful area of the coast.

I really can't say what the attraction to Yachats is.... it does have beautiful scenery but not much else. However, it doesn't have a monopoly on the scenery.

It isn't too far from Newport or Florence which have a bit more to do. There are lots of discussions about this town - it has been discovered all the tourists seem to go there - just not Oregonians (at least that I can gather from the posts here). I stay in Newport when I go. Do a search and see if it helps. Be sure to spell it correctly... yachats pronounced yah-hots.

The coast is lovely almost anywhere you stay. Enjoy!

Rest assured, lots of Oregonian visit Yachats, too. We did when we lived there, as did many of our friends. It is farther from Portland than a lot of places on the coast, so most Portlanders (ergo most Oregonians) don't venture as far south for short beach weekends. But it is a particularly lovely part of the coast, as QueenMab suggests. It is not developed like Newport. It is a place to relax, explore, and enjoy the scenery. There is also the Sea Lion Caves, which are touristy but worth the trip for the view of the Cape Perpetua lighthouse if not the sea lions themselves. It is not far from the dunes of Florence. There is plenty to do there, if you like nature and scenic beauty.
