Anyone been to Union Pacific?

A friend made reservations for a pre-theatre dinner this Sat at Union Pacific. I checked out the web site and the menu looks...interesting....

For those who've been, how's the food, sevice and ambiance? I'd like to dress warm and comfortably as it is winter in NYC. Would casual dress be appropriate for this place?

Casual dress is very appropo. Inside it looks sort of like an upscale diner. Food is good. I had a business lunch there once -- w/o booze it came to $50. We both had salads.

nice casual is fine. I had a great dinner and amazing service. The atmosphere is very cool too. Keep in mind, that it's a prix fixe...$65, I think?

Also, I'm a not a dessert person, so I asked if I could do a cheese course instead, and indeed I could (it's not on the menu)...in case you're interested.

Very nice restaurant. A little bland on the decor. Portions are gourment (read: small). Otherwise, no complaints.

"Upscale diner"? Gee, that's not how I would decribe it at all. Very sparse, in my opinion, would be better. The food is very, very good -- same for the service. I would wear very jeans (with heels) and nice top.

That should be "very nice" jeans. Sorry!

Make sure you get a table downstairs. There is a room upstairs that is decorated like an airport hotel restaurant. Terrible atmosphere - the main dining room is much nicer.
