anyone been/stay at the Venetian within the last few weeks??

Hi, just wondering how construction was coming along. Are all the pools open? How about shops and restaurants? We are contemplating a stay late July/early August and were attemting to ensure that most facilities will be up and running by then. If you have been - what were your impressions? Thanks for the help.
We toured the casino this past weekend. The inside looks done and several restaurants were up and running and some of the shops were open but they still have a ways to go on stores. The 5 pools are on top of the hotel and we did not go up there. We got a tour from Jonathon in VIP who was full of info if you want someone to call to confirm. The place was very nice and ornate and full of people. Bellagio is much nicer. The all suite rooms were done well. I love the location. Gondola's and swans out front and a canal upstairs that goes by the shops.

I just read on the LV forum that the Venetian pools may not be open until in August sometime...and that perhaps 10 of the 80 shops are open. However, the personnel there is supposed to be super nice.
Hi Chuck -

We go to Vegas on business very often (6-8 times per year.) And now, that includes the Venetian because it's connected to the Sands Expo Center.

It's pretty nice, just like Bellagio but frankly, I liked Mandalay Bay better.

I will recommend the Pinot Brasserie which is located in the Venetian. We had lunch there 2 weeks ago and it was excellent. I can't speak for all dishes but we had the "Hanger Steak" and frites and it reminded us of a little restaurant we ate in our last trip to Paris.

Also, the Grand Lux Cafe is pretty good but don't let them sit you in the back. Ask for a table up front where they have it decorated like an outdoor sitting area of a European cafe. Complete with unique torche style lighting. Very nice. We'll sit up there next time!

Have fun... :-)
