Any tips when visiting new Yankee Stadium???

My husband and I will be in New York City next week (June 15 -18tyh)...... I bought tickets for the Yankee game on June 16th. My husband is very excited about going to the game and seeing the new stadium. Any tips on the visit? Any special events that occur before the game if we arrive early? etc. Thanks!

Don't drive to the game. Friends of mine tried and couldn't get parking last weekend even 2 hrs early. Take public transportation.

Can you still tour the Monuments before the game? I usually get to games when the gates just open to watch BP and walk around. They do restrict access to levels depending on tickets. Did you buy bleacher seats? That may restrict you to 1 area of the park (based on the old.

And make sure to harass ARod and cheer for the Nationals!!! (am a Red Sox fan). I will be in DC for the Sox at Nationals games in 2 weeks.

Our seats are in section Field Level 129, Row 17...... Hope these are good seats. How much does food run (or is it possible to bring food in?) Souvenirs...... pricey inside stadium? or can we find things outside of stadium?

The the subway to and from the game is the best way to get to and from the stadium. There will be TONS of people on the subway, so even if the game runs late you will feel comfortable taking public transit.

The D (WEST SIDE)takes you right to the stadium as does the 4 (EAST SIDE)train.

If you'd like to avoid a bit of the crowds after the game you can walk across the bridge into Manhattan to the 155th St station and take the C train downtown.

Get there early so you can see bating practice and enjoy the new park. There are lots of food options now but it's not cheap to eat there.

Have a GREAT TIME, and GO SOX, ooooops, I mean ......

You may not bring food into Yankee Stadium ,not even water bottles. Do not bring anything into the stadium that violates their rules, i.e. backpacks etc. They do search; there is no place to check things that are not allowed in.

"No backpacks, briefcases, attaché cases, coolers, glass or plastic bottles, cans, large purses, bags or video cameras will be permitted into the ballpark. You must leave these items in your vehicle before entering the ballpark.
No laptops are permitted into the stadium.
No items will be claim checked. You will be asked to return them to your vehicle.
Diaper bags, small children's backpacks, small women's purses & backpack purses will be permitted into the ballpark, but will be inspected at the entrance gates.
Re-entry will not be permitted. Once you enter the ballpark, you will not be permitted to leave and re-enter the facility. Please make sure you have everything you need with you before entering the ballpark. " There is a bowling alley or something nearby that you can check things at, but it is a big pain in the a$$.

Sorry, factory sealed, clear water bottles are ok.

"No bottles or cans are permitted in Yankee Stadium with the exception of transparent plastic water bottles. The water bottle must be full and factory-sealed. It cannot be a container from home, and it must only be filled with water. Exceptions may be made for empty plastic sports bottles, baby bottles, health-related materials and unopened soft-sided single-serve containers (such as small milk cartons, juice boxes, etc.). Exceptions may be made at the sole discretion of the Yankees."

How about weather.... Does anyone know if this tends to be a cold/windy stadium?....... We're from San Francisco where games can be miserable if you're not prepared.

You can bring food into the stadium. My partner goes several times a month and always brings sandwiches and snacks, along with plastic water bottles. (Keep in the freezer until you leave the house) I am going to the new stadium soon for the first time and plan to bring a picnic.

Food options are reportedly much improved from the past, but still very expensive.

Re prices for food at the stadium: just figure what a reasonable price for an item should be and triple it.

Are Bud/Bud Lights still $8 or $9 a bottle? The last Yankees game I went to I couldn't believe the price of a beer; but I guess beer is always pricey at games.

Thanks everyone..... I think we'll get some sandwiches + snacks at a local deli (and purchase drinks at stadium). Now, I just hope it's not too cold!

Sorry about my incorrect interpretation of the rules listed in my post.

The thing about not carrying in backpacks as there are no check stands is valuable, especially if you take public transportation to the game and happen to have a backpack and find yourself SOL. This happened to DH last year; that's how I know about the bowling alley holding stuff.

But you'll be there during a game against the Nationals and wearing a Nats hat would probably be more of a curiosity than a request to catch h**l from the fans.
