HAHAHA. The only gold panning you'll find in Scottsdale is in a jewelry store in a fancy resort. You might find some touristy goofy thing at Rawhide in north Scottsdale. The only other gold panning I'm aware of is in the Prescott or Wickenburg area, a couple of hours away. Both are culturally and socially the opposite of Scottsdale.

Kierland Commons is a newer shopping center located on Scottsdale Road. It's a nice outdoor mall (Crate & Barrel, J. Jill, Ann Taylor, etc.) plus there's a PF Chang's and Cheesecake Fatory.

They have gold panning at Goldfield, a ghost town about 30 miles east of Scottsdale. It is kind of interesting - a new gold mining operation has started up. Before WWII it was actually one of the largest towns in Arizona.

For Mexican food, Los Olivos.
For an ice cream parlor - Sugar Bowl
For Cowboy Steak - Pinnacle Peak Patio

I do not know anything about gold panning but the food at La Hacienda is the best.

The buffet at the restaurant at the Marriott Camelback is good. Also, searching "scottsdale" on this forum should give you tons of info.

Gold panning?
