Any suggestions for restaurant in Tucson?

A friend will be in Tucson next week - staying in the Sabino Canyon/Tanque Verde area. They are looking for a great meal. 19 year old son will be going off with an outdoors program for 8-10 weeks so would like a good "last supper" in civilization. Not formal/fancy, but very good food. Price not an issue. Maybe Italian? A great steak? All suggestions welcome.
Thanks!

Fleming's has good steak (spendy). Daisy Mae's is more of a "joint" but the steaks are good - it's on the opposite side of town, though.

Great ideas so far. Thanks!

How long do you think the drive would be to Pastiche (approx)?
Is Flemings closer?

Any Italian options?

Pastiche and Flemings are probably both about half an hours drive from Sabino. Can't help with a great Italian here, sorry.

Ok, great. Thanks again!
Since they are flying in from the East coast that day....are there any closer options? If not, they will have a car so can drive, but would rather be closer if possible.

Do you know exactly where they're staying? I'm on the far west side and am not super familiar with that side of town. If they're truly staying near Sabino, there's no restos within walking distance. If they're on Tanque Verde Road, there's more but may not want to walk anyway.

Comfort Suites Sabino Canyon,
7007 E. Tanque Verde, AZ 85715

They are only there for one night as that is their drop off point. They are then moving on for a few nights of vacation.
Does NOT have to be walking distance and they may be willing to go the 1/2 hour for one of the above suggestions, but something 5-10-15 minutes drive would be even better.

I'm not sure if El Charro is nearby or not, but when we visited there, it was wonderful food with good service & large portions.

For Italian I recommend Tavolinos at 7090 North Oracle. Visit their website www.tavolinosrestaurant.com

Also Vivace 4310 North Campbell and Arcacia At St. Phillips 4340 North Campbell. Both of these are more upscale than Tavolinos which is in a strip mall, but that shouldn't put anyone off. It's a cute place with young owners/chef.

One of the best restaurants in Tucson is Janos - but expect formal, gourmet-style fine dining.

For a more informal atmosphere, but excellent food from the same kitchen, I strongly recommend J Bar - probably the best value for money which you can find in Tucson.

There's a place right next to that hotel called Eclectic Cafe. It's not what they're looking for for dinner, but I recommend it highly for breakfast or lunch.

They have Italian restaurants on the East Coast. Why not have some great Mexican food in Tucson? Lots of choices, but I'm sorry I don't have the names.
