any suggestions for christmas
 

My retired parents are heading to U.S. early December, and after a few trips around the country as in Vegas, LA, New Orleans, Tijuana, San francisco, New York & a few days around Chicago, Wisconsin area, not necessarily in that order, where would be a good place to spend christmas. Not too pricey & they don't mind a bit of snow. They have 6 weeks from 4th December. Any suggestions appreciated. Thankyou, Sue

I forgot to mention, they are from Australia & this will be there second trip to the US,last time they did the grand canyon, Disneyland etc

Sue:<BR><BR>I'd suggest they visit Washington, D.C. area and then they could go to little road trips around the area such as Gettysburg and Lancaster,Pennsylvania and then head south Fredrick, VA and to Williamsburg, VA to tour the historic places that should be decorated for Christmas. If they are ambitious they could drive to SC and tour Charleston, SC. Since they have 6 weeks so they may want to go this far and leisurely take in the local sites and stop along the way to walk and stay at the Carolina beaches.

Arizona might be nice and a place they have not been to as of yet. You also do not mention Florida. Many nice places in both states to visit for the Holidays. If you are seeking snow land, perhaps the New England States, Vermont, Mass. Maine. Snow on the ground more than likely.

Ideas for Christmas--<BR><BR>Christmas in New England would be lovely. It is sort of the &quot;postcard&quot; place for Christmas (and autumn, too) in the U.S. There may very well be snow, and New England is beautiful that time of year. Vermot or Maine are good bets. A nice inn, and some skiing, would be nice. You'll likely find that skiing is open on Christmas-- if not, go to Lake Tahoe in California/Nevada instead. There will be more to do.<BR><BR>Christmas in NY would also be a fabulous experience. Taking in a Broadway show or the Rockettes would be wonderful. You'll find that in large cities in the US, there are more things open in terms of entertainment and restaurants than in other countries, and also more than in smaller towns. You could definitely find a nice Christmas dinner there.<BR><BR>The Lake Tahoe area in California/NV would also be a very nice place for the holidays, and make for wonderful snow and skiing. It is pretty affordable.<BR><BR>I noticed you don't have much of the south or southwest on that itinerary-- Charleston, SC would be nice, or Savannah, GA. <BR><BR>If you want to do the southwest, try Arizona. Be warned, though, that in the southwest, it won't &quot;feel&quot; like Christmas -- it's very warm.<BR><BR><BR><BR>

Just a word of caution Sue, Tijuana is in Mexico. Once you cross the border you are in another country. I don't know what the requirements are for visitors from Australia crossing over and back Mexico to the US. Have they checked into that yet. And BTW Tijuana is quite icky.
