Any SprintPCS users made calls from Vancouver, BC?
We are going to Vancouver soon and called Sprint to find out what the rates would be for using our phone in Canada. They told us that if we can pick up Sprint's signal and not "ROAM", there would be no additional charges.

So, I was wondering whether any SprintPCS phone users out there have taken their phone to Vancouver, BC and were able to use it without "roaming"?

I am not sure about Sprint, but we have Cingular, and incurred terrible roaming charges when we were there. I think Sprint is supposed to have a better network, though.

When I was in Canada in the summer of 2001, I didn't have much luck with my Sprint phone. No service on Vancouver Island and was only able to get a roam signal in Vancouver. I didn't bother to use it, since I didn't want to incur roaming fees.

My recollection was that when we had Sprint digital it croaked at the border. I believe the Telus Network in Canada allows their subscribers to use Sprint in the US, but don't know if it works the other way.

My Sprint PCS didn't work in British Columbia, nor Vancouver Island (on the left coast), nor Nova Scotia on the right coast!

Thanx a mint all for your replies and info...this board is great :)

Looks like I'll have to buy some Roaming Bundles before I leave. (In case anyone else needs it, it's 50min for $10 to bring the cost down from 94cents/min to 45c/m).

Linda, your's was spot on since we're heading to Halifax before we fly to Vancouver. Now I know for both places!
