My two cents...roller coaster- has to be the old Loch Ness Monster at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg. My husband and I discovered it long ago, and it has lived on in legend to our daughters. Last year we had the opportunity to go back, and I wondered what the girls would think of it. No worries....they got off and on more than a dozen times.

Cedar Point gets my vote too.
Went there a few years ago, in October.
The weather was great - they even kept the park open an extra hour.
Our only complaint was that the food service was very slow. Other than that,
it was great.

hy...
my boyfriend got really into rollercoasters on our trip to 6 Flags Magic Mountain. We went on the Goliath -which was just amazing and he went (without me - I was tooo scared) on one that's called "dejavu"..where I already got afraid just looking at it.. but he can't stop talking about it. especially as we don't have any rollercoasters like that in Austria.

Hello, Everyone!

What a surprise to see this post surface again over a year later. Guess what? I did not get to go to Cedar Point in October, 2000 as I had originally planned. The weather played the biggest factor in my decision to not go. Too cold.

But, I did go this past July for a four-day weekend. Cedar Point was awesome! Got there when the gates opened and didn't leave until they shut the park down. Millenium Force was worth the wait just for the first drop. But I have to say that the Magnum was my favorite coaster in the park. I also enjoyed the Gemini very much.

Also spent a day at Put-In-Bay, rented the golf cart and drove around the island. That was a lot of fun, too. Enjoyed riding the "Island Rocket" to the island just as much.

Well, thought since my old thread had resurfaced I should at least let you guys know I did finally make it to Cedar Point, a year later!

So long for now...

Sandi
Where can you get discount tickets for cedar point. We are leaving Chicago on 6/5/02.
|
Too late for mmichau, but you can get discount tickets from Cedar Point. Go to their website and ask to have their info book sent to you. It has all kinds of coupons in it. Once you're on their mailing list, they'll send it to yo every year.

We love our coasters, but also appreciate a nicely landscaped and well kept park in which to enjoy them. Just to give you an idea of our preferences, I'll 1 to 10 all the parks we've visited in terms of ride satisfaction (first mark) and general impression of park (second mark)--comments may follow grades... DISNEY WORLD 8, 10 (Holleywood Tower of Terror brings that first mark up to an 8--it's more fun than frightening, but it's just SO well done from start to finish... We haven't been there since Rockin' Roller Coaster opened, so can't add that into the mix...) CEDAR POINT 10, 8 (Nothing will beat Millenium Force, so if coasters are your thing, look no further than Sandusky, Ohio) SIX FLAGS WORLDS OF ADVENTURE in Ohio 7, 5 (X Flight is great, but more fun than thrilling) DISNEYLAND, CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE 7, 10 SIX FLAGS MAGIC MOUNTAIN 8, 3 X wasn't as great as we thought it would be...the park is...to put it kindly, not very nice. SIX FLAGS DARIAN LAKE 7, 5... Now for my question... Next time we're in Florida, should we head for Busch Gardens or Universal's Islands of Adventure? And how about Knott's Berry Farm in California? Is the park really nice? Are the rides decent?? We're looking for an atmosphere like Disney World with rides as good as those at Cedar Point. Obviously that's not going to happen, but are any of the parks I've asked about at all to that ideal?

Can anyone tell me about Superman the Ride? I think it's at Magic Mountain
|
Superman the ride is at 6 flags Magic Mountain. It is on an L shaped track, with the tower going 400 ft or more in the air. There is a single car, with the first row having 3 seats & the other 3 rows having 4 seats in each row. You are blasted out of the station & get up to 100 mph. The doesnot go all the way to the top of the tower. Then the car drops down the tower, which is when you get some air time. I really enjoyed it, bu the ride is over in about 20 - 30 seconds.

The best time of year to go to Cedar Point is in the fall. They are open most weekends, lines are shorter. Halloween weekend they have a Halloween party.

Oblivion at Alton Towers, England.

Vertical drop into a black hole in the ground - excellent!!!

Sam

I have a question about Kennywood. We'll be up in Pittsburgh for the Labor Day weekend. I was wondering whether to take the kids to Kennywood or to the Strip District. I'm sure Labor Day weekend will be crazy, but when do schools start? Would Friday be less crowded?
|
It's funny. I just went to Six Flags New England yesterday and they still have the same roller coaster that my father went on when he went there for his 8th grade class trip (he's 69 years old). That coaster is still operating too. Makes me a little nervous.

For S who is going to Pittsburgh Labor Day Weekend:
Kennywood opens at 5 pm during August 26-30 (Monday-Friday) with an ride all evening rate of $15. Check out their website at kennywood.com.
