Any recommendations for long weekend around WI/MN

Hello,

I've been looking around for things to do for long weekend but alas nothing has been lucrative enough for me and a few friends to make up our minds.

I live halfway between Madison and Minneapolis and am willing to drive 8-10 hrs around here. Been to Rushmore, Chicago, Upper Michigcan, Daluth, 6 flags would be overcrowded.

Are there any other interesting places or things to do around here. I am not big into camping but enjoy outdoors (like some state parks) but having already visited Badlands, I sort of ruled out North Dakota as well.

If you have some recommendations, I am all ears =)

Thank you!

You mentioned Duluth, but have you been beyond that to the North Shore?

Thanks for the feedback dfr4848.

I've been to Gooseberry falls twice now but not beyond that. Northshore seems to be on the same lines perhaps?

I am also looking at some of the UP state parks (Porcupine state park?) which seems like a nice getaway for a couple of days.

Mackinac island is a personal favorite, it was fun hiking and biking out there. I wonder if there are any other similar options.

If memory serves, there are six more state parks between Gooseberry Falls and the Canadian border. If you're looking for hiking and biking, they'd be well worth checking out.

Have you been to Door County? Sounds like it'd be a great fit :)

Door County would be nice as would Porcupine Mountains State Park. The state park is much more "wildeness-ey" than Door County. Beautiful hiking trails there; it's huge for a stae park. Door County has some of everything. I really don't know how someone couldn't have a good time there.
