Any personal experience with AAA insurance?

We're thinking about using AAA for our insurance when driving down to Mexico next time. Their rates seem competetive with the other quotes I received.

Also, AAA's quote for our personal auto and home insurance floored me! It was almost half of what I'm currently paying.

Does anyone have any personal experience with AAA insurance? I'm wondering about claims experience or any other concerns I haven't thought of yet.

Are you speaking of AAA insurance in general or when you go to Mexico as far as personal experience?

I've been with AAA since I was 20 - which is more than 20 years ago - and I've always been completely happy with them. I've had to file a few claims over the years and they've always been courteous, helpful, and "on my side". I've tried looking into other insurance, as friends had always told me that AAA was more expensive, but no one can match what I have. To clarify, I was "grandfathered" in under my parent's policy, so I a collision and comprehensive deductible of $100.00. I simply cannot get another insurance to touch that nowadays.

I especially like the fact that AAA renews for an entire year, not just 6 months. I don't have to worry about paying the bill but once a year instead of twice a year.

The shops they recommend me to when my car needs to be repaired are top-notch as well. And I'm also a member in the roadside assistance program, which is gives extra peace of mind.

I've never used AAA for insurance in driving to Mexico, but the last time I drove to Mexico AAA didn't offer the insurance. I can't speak to what quality of service they provide in Mexico. Definitely would recommend AAA to others, however.

I've been with AAA insurance for about 8 years. We switched to AAA when my daughter first became licensed because they offered me best rates for a newly licensed driver, saving be close to $600 over the next closest quote.

My daughter, who is still on my policy, recently was hit by an uninsured driver. AAA took very good care of her, sent her to an excellent garage very near to her house and payment was quite fair and prompt. This was out only claim and I was quite pleased at how well they handled it for us.

I believe that Mexico does not recognize any US based insurance. You have to get insurance from a Mexican firm. I may be wrong, but that's what I remember. Also, if you get into an automobile accident in Mexico, and you're American, YOU ARE IN A HEAP OF TROUBLE!!!! Check it out carefully.

Kennedy3, having owned an independent insurance agency for many years I can tell you that when someone buys insurance with AAA they stay with them forever!

I twice I have had my auto hit by an AAA insured and I could have not been more pleased with the way they handled the claims.

About auto insurance in Mexico. Unless AAA can issue an auto policy that has been approved by the Mexican govenment (which I do not think is the case) you do have to buy insurance from a Mexican firm. I am certain that AAA can give you the details on this.

If you are in an accident in Mexico, even if you are 100% completely free of fault (such as being rearend for example) and do not have the proper auto insurance for Mexico you can be put in jail.

Do check into this carefully. Then have a great time in Mexico.

I started with AAA when in college, more years ago than I care to admit. It has served me well ever since. I used to look at those Geico ads, but compared twice and found they were higher than AAA.
