Any ideas for 3 families of teens to get together for 5 days this summer in US?

My cousins and I live in different parts of the US and we're trying to figure out a destination to meet up for 5 days this summer at the end of July. We each have teenaged kids, and we need a place with things for them to do -- tennis, swimming, etc, but a place where we can relax too. We're completely open to the type of weather and the destination -- Florida, Colorado, South Carolina, California, you name it. We'd like an upscale place if it fits in our budget, but places like the Broadmoor (at over $500/rm) are too much.

Any great ideas out there?

Sounds like you need to rent a large beach house in North or South Carolina or Georgia. I think others will have better specific recommendations than I do.

SW Colorado -- Durango, Mesa Verde, Telluride, Million Dollar Highway loop. Lots to do, reasonable prices. Hike, bike, raft, alpine slides, horses, beautiful scenery, rivers, lakes....

We did this a few years back with our families with teens and all loved it.

Can give specifics if you are interested.

Hope this helps...

The requirements you describe can be fulfilled almost anywhere in the U.S. at almost any upscale resort area. If you want to get the most for your money and have all you described, I have two suggestions:
(1) The Ozarks and lake country of northern Arkansas (yes, there are nice upscale resorts there)
(2) The resort at Fontana Village in Tennessee, an overlooked but wonderful place to relax with everything for kids that you described.

The list of other places will be a mile long by the time you have to make a decision. I think that it really depends on which part of the country is more convenient to go to, or is more desirable based on your own unique geographic preferences. Such places can be anywhere from Montana to Florida.

I think a large beach house in San Diego, Charleston, or The Hamptons would be a great option for you.

Keep in mind that most July rentals will probably have seven night minimums.

Teens would love Sedona,AZ. They could hike, climb, ride motorcycles, visit the Grand Canyon, or just visit with great scenery in the background.

Just got back from whitewater rafting through the grand canyon for 6 days, 5 nights with Western River Expedition. There were 3 families with 6 teenagers all together. What a fabulous trip. We are not campers but absolutely loved it. Step outside the box and go for it. Sorry this is so late, hope you come back to your posts.

Sunriver Resort in Central Oregon would be perfect for this. We do this several times a year, and never tire of things to do. Check out the website at www.sunriver-resort.com. You can rent a large home for all of you, or get a few near each other. The resort itself rents homes, but there are a handful of other companies that rent homes within the resort too, along with by owner rentals. I am headed back there next weekend!
