Any good restaurant recommendations in Olvera Street?
Coming into Union Train Station on a Monday evening and thought we'd find a restaurant nearby while the traffice clears out.
TIA! |
Walk across the street to the Plaza, go straight into La Luz de la Dia. It is located right at the end of Olvera Street. Stand in line, order a plate with extra handmade tortillas, napales, and a nice cold beer. Let the lady carry your order, smile and give her a tip, fill up the paper cups with salsa, be sure to sit outside facing the old church, relax, watch the shadows change as the sun goes down, all is right in the world.

I agree, La Luz del Dia is my restaurant of choice on Olvera Street try the carnitas.

Thank you both - sounds just perfect!!

Don't forget to get churros from the Churros place (about midway on Olvera STreet).

Just in case, you are not in the mood for Mexican food. Across the street from Union Station is Philippes, the "originator" of the French Dip. Here is some of the history. It's an L.A. icon.
