Any Fodorites attending the ABQ Balloon Fiesta in October?
 

There are a few of us attending this years Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque Oct 5th through 14th.

I'll be in ABQ Friday afternoon through Sunday morning (Oct 5-7) and then heading north to Santa Fe for a few days (8-11th).

I believe Moldyhotelsaregross, Travel_Addict and ElendilPickle will be there but I don't know their dates.

Any fodorites in town and anyone up for a GTG New Mexico style??

As of now, I have a condo reserved in Santa Fe 10.7 - 10.13, but I may come in a few days before or after and stay in ABQ. I'm still looking into flights - no need to rush these things. ;)

I don't know if I can call myself a "Fodorite," frankly. Mostly I check in every now & again and if I have anything to offer, I do.

However -- I live in Santa Fe and would LOVE to gather if you all make a plan for Oct - count me in!

Woohoo! Just a month to go!

So, any advice on how to get my best friend to say "Oh yes! I would love to have a GTG while in Abq."

She isn't a Fodorite.

28 days 21 hours before departure.....but who's counting! Only me who is sooo in need of R&R in New Mexico!!

Moldy, you could always bring her to the gtg and then be completely surprised we're there!! "Why I had no idea!"

Or you could fill 'er up with a margarita or two and then tell her!

What are chile roasters?

Someone should still be roasting chile - which reminds me, I need to get some.

Moldy, have you missed this particular delight of fall in New Mexico? Almost every grocery store and roadside stand has someone roasting green chile in a big mesh barrel. You buy your bag of chile, they dump it in and roast it for you. The aroma is incredible!

Hey BeachGirl - thanks for asking. Of course I am able to get to Albuquerque, altho a Santa Fe gathering would be more to my liking. Also, I am thinking of doing a very late date for planning trip somewhere. Early Oct would be great. Let me know what evolves.......email for me:[email protected].....

I will be in SF - a much needed break from recent events in my life - from the 3rd to the 7th. Not sure I'll be able to meet, but if you like to shop, eat and drink margaritas, then I'm sure our paths will cross.

We are those Fodor's pins when we need them???

I could definitely attend a GTG in Albuquerque October 5th-7th. The Fiesta starts October 6th. What would be easiest, planning something offsite? I think it would be pretty difficult trying to find each other at the balloon park. :-)

So wishing that y'all were planning this for November, whichis when I will be in for a Western Music convention in ABQ and planning a few days after for Santa Fe R&R.

I'm not in the know about how these things get organized. I"m willing to do something (meaning, be a focal point for whatever is decided....phone, email, etc.) as I am in Santa Fe but do not know what to offer. Anyone ???

I'll be in ABQ Fri 5th, Sat 6th and leaving sometime on Sunday for Santa Fe so can meet early on Sunday before we hit the Turquoise Trail.
Santa Fe dates are evening of the 7th, thru 10th.

Without a doubt I'll be in ABQ for Fiesta. I'm just having trouble convincing my best friend that this something that she is just dying to do! She is a very shy, reserved person.

I'm in - I'll be here until the 8th.

So it sounds like we're looking at an Albuquerque GTG on Friday the 5th or Saturday the 6th. What time do you get in, BeachGirl?

If you'd like to suggest a restaurant or two, I can make reservations. :-)

Ok, it looks like my trip is back on now. However the condo owner rented the Santa Fe Condo the 8th-10th so now I'm either staying in ABQ or Taos those days, and in SF the 7th, 11-13th. It looks like I'll miss the GTG though, as it's before I arrive.

Beachgirl/nrobnz - maybe we can meet in SF some other time? on the 8th for breakfast or lunch, perhaps? I have both of your e-mails so I will write as soon as I figure out all the final details of my trip. (Nothing like scrambling at the last minute for a trip that was originally booked back in January! ugh!)

Sorry guys --don't think I am going to make it. I have driven 2 round trips [from SW Colorado] to ABQ this week and don't think I can do another trip so soon. Have a great time for me!

Just a quick note -- just had some work dumped on us so now we have to eliminate our Albuquerque portion of our trip. We will be in Santa Fe the 5th departing the 11th. Working on a patio and in Tesuque is better than at home I guess!

LeeAnn and Moldy -- so sorry and will take a rain check for next year!! Debi, glad to hear you're traveling so much and look forward to our next meeting. :)
