I stayed at the Intercontinental Barclay over Columbus Day weekend last year. Had a beautiful room and the service was impeccable.

Just an FYI if it's raining, walk over to the Waldorf to get a cab. For some reason it was harder to get a cab at the Intercontinental Barclay (but, I was there when the heavens broke loose). The line for cabs was about 20 deep, and it took me an hour to get to the head of the line - and that was with the help of the doorman.

I also like this hotel. Used to be called "Intercontinental New York" but I think when they added another InterCon in NYC they revived the Barclay name. Rooms can be small (welcome to NY!) but I think you'll like it. Superb location, too.

Wonderful old-school Midtown East hotel. Popular with foreign dignitaries (the first time I stayed there, Nelson Mandela was also in the hotel). Heed Dan's observation about room size-- they're small (a queen-sized bed took up most of the floor of my first room), but beautifully-appointed and immaculately clean. The location is ideal. You'll love it!

I'm staying there this weekend after a friend's wedding, so I'll let you know!

I have stayed there twice in th past year - both times $100 through Priceline. It is really a nice place. Beautiful public area and the rooms are tasteful. Enjoy.
