Any comments on Diamond Beach Ocean Resort in Ft.Myers Beach, FL?

My husband & I are thinking of staying at this hotel at the end of this month. Has anyone stayed here & if so, is it a nice property? Also, I need some suggestions on good but not so expensive restaurants in the area. Thanks so much.

I think you mean Diamondhead. They certainly would not call themselves an ocean resort as they are on the Gulf, not the Atlantic. It is the only true full service hotel on Fort Myers Beach. I haven't had any negative comments from clients staying there but no one has raved either. Chloe's is the restaurant there. It is nice but not wonderful. On Fort Myers Beach I like Gulfshore and the Cottage for inexpensive good food. LMF

I live in Ft. Myers. Diamonhead is the resort you are thinking about. The location is good, but on the Gulf not the ocean as the above mentioned. Chloe's is overrated; we love Matanzas or Channel Mark for good food. Right on the water and always reasonable in their pricing. Try Snug Harbor for the sunset and don't forget to go on their roof. Great View. Have a good time.

I think I stayed at Diamondhead about 4 years ago (it it's a suite-type hotel on the beach.) It was fantastic and the people working there were very nice. I actually won the trip from a local Optimist Club and even though the weekend was free, they were still extremely accommodating to us! I loved it there. ETC has excellent restaurant suggestions.
