Hi, my husband and I and another couple are looking for a weekend getaway. We are coming from the Philadelphia area, and thought that the wineries and the history of the Charlottesville area made it a good choice. My preference would be to stay somewhere north of Charlottesville which would make our drive a little shorter. I think we are looking to spend $150 - $175 per night per room. Does anyone have a recommendation? Thanks.

I live in Charlottesville and would encourage you to stay downtown. There is lots to see and do.

Yes, I've been to Charlottesville in the past and like it quite a bit. But I thought we might like to see Madison's house and tour wineries and as I said to cut a half hour or so off our already lengthy drive. Any other recommendations for places around Orange perhaps?

There are two B&B's in Orange that get very good reviews on Trip Advisor: Holladay House and Inn at Poplar Hill. Sorry, haven't stayed there but they look nice!

Meander Inn. Inn at Barboursville Vineyard. These may be quite pricey. Look for some around Sperryville and Washington, VA(not the Inn at Little Washington, which would be $$$$$$$$$$$-but very nice!).
