Anniversery suggestions-MN

Would like suggestions for Wedding Anniversary for parents in early 80's. They are fairly active, drive auto, etc. They are in MN, I'm not. Thinking maybe a nice Bed & Breakfast, maybe a dinner theater, or??? It would need to be between Mpls, St. Cloud and Duluth. They do not like driving in Mpls, or large cities. I think they could/would driving an hour or two in any direction if they can avoid the cities.. Do you have a suggestion, or an idea of something different? Anniversary is in summer.

I would sugggest Lanesboro, MN which is 3 hours from the Twin Cities. It has a charming and small downtown with restaurants and a well known theatre (Commonweal Theater). There's also a great bike trail in Lanesboro that is paved and fairly flat. If they like water sports, you can also rent canoes or kayaks down as the Root River runs through town. There's also plenty of B&B's in the area.

Lanesboro is a good idea. Would recommend Mrs. B's Historic Inn (which is really a B&B, but very nice).

Also, Stillwater. Maybe that's too close, but really nice area with shops and restaurants. They also have a dinner train (friends have taken it but we haven't yet so can't give personal comments)

We've driven between MSP and Duluth a number of times and frankly I can't think of anything in between.

Thank you for these two suggestions. With them and another search of the internet, we have narrowed it down. Thanks for the help.

Just east of La Crosse there is a place built for couples only, saw it on trip adviser it's Percheron Paradise and the La Crosse area has many B & B's Four Gables is great very good restaurants, check out explorelacrosse.com for area info. If they do not like " Big City" but do like everything Big City has La Crosse is the place. The Pump House-arts & theater, river boat cruises, carriage rides and the views are unbeatable with all the bluffs and rock out cropping’s from hiking to shoping you really have to go there.
