anniversary on cape cod

My husband and I are planning to celebrate our anniversary during a family vacation to the cape. My parents will be watching the kids so we can have a night out. I have never been to the Cape before so am looking for any ideas for something special or fun to do.
Thanks!

Whereabouts are you staying? That can make a big difference in suggestions. If you're looking for a special restaurant, Chillingsworth in Brewster is fabulous. Expensive but worth it. Or did you have something besides dinner in mind?

As I was hitting post my reply, I was re-reading where you said something "fun to do" and I had a crazy thought. What about the drive-in movie theater in Welfleet? Chances are, you haven't been to a drive-in since you were a kid yourself? Personally, I'd opt for the elegant dinner at Chillingsworth, but maybe you could do both? Happy Anniversary!

Another vote for Chillingsworth, but it does depend on where you are on the Cape, so let us know.....

Chillingsworth is good, but don't overlook Bucca's in Harwich, on the corner of Rt. 28 and Depot- a Tuscan Bistro- of the Chatham Bars Inn, which is a great place not only for dinner, but to stay overnight!

We are staying in Brewster, so Chillingsworth would be a good choice for us. I've also heard good things about the Brewster Fish House - does that compare?

I'll add my two cents since we have a house in Brewster.

First, I'll say we've not yet tried Chillingsworth as my husband isn't big on French food. But everyone says it's great.

Brewster Fish House has very good food but doesn't take reservations (which I personally find annoying). The atmosphere is nice but I wouldn't call it romantic.

My favorite romantic spot (albeit as expensive as Chillingsworth) is the Bramble Inn. They serve a four course, delicious dinner for a set price. Set in an old inn (they have overnight accommodations), with different rooms, it's very quaint, cozy, upscale and romantic. It's my favorite spot.

A less expensive choice would be The Beacon Room in Orleans. Another favorite with good food.

Have fun in our neck of the woods!

Haven't tried Brewster Fish House but I agree with ccrosner that Bramble Inn is also very good. When we dined there mid-week last summer, it was very quiet, but I know it's much busier on weekends.

Chillingsworth is still my favorite of the two though. We've also celebrated our anniversary there and it was wonderful. I think Chillingsworth is a little more expensive than Bramble Inn--either choice would be good.

Consider the Nauset Beach Club a northern Italian restaurant in Orleans - or drive out to Ptwon and try the Martin House.

HI--*still* voting for Chillingsworth, esp b/c you are staying in Brewster. Dinner there is a lengthy event, and that way you do not have a long drive back. Here are a few words from a here "unnamed" but well-known restaurant rating guide...

lavish”, “exquisite” “seven-course” prix fixe “splurge” (“you cannot order a clunker”) as a “superior” “staff caters to your every need”

Sounds like an anniversary dinner place to me!!:)

Red Pheasant on 6A in Dennis is wonderful and romantic! Sit in the garden room. Enjoy!
