Anniversary in Carmel
My husband and I will be spending a few days in Carmel in late Jan to celebrate our 35th anniversary. We'd like a B&B or inn that has ocean views and fireplace in room--can be a bit pricey, but not outrageous. We haven't been there in 25 years and need some suggestions! Also for great places to eat.

Hi falcon,
I just posted a response on a post called "Monterey Peninsula... check out my trip report for my thoughts... http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...p;tid=34452270 We stayed at the Tickle Pink Inn and loved it... an anniversary trip we'll never forget. Have fun! :D |
The Tickle Pink Inn is very nice, we were just there in September. We've also very much enjoyed the Highland's Inn, right next door. Our room had ocean views and a very nice fireplace there.
Both places are in the Carmel Highlands, just a short drive to downtown Carmel. Enjoy the area! ***kim*** :) |
The town of PACIFIC GROVE has two Victorian House bed and breakfast places that overlook the Monterey Bay: GREEN GABLE INN or the SEVEN GABLE INN. Both are very nice. The Seven Gable was featured in a Visa commercial on TV a few years ago because of beauty and location on the water.
Pacific Grove has most of the coastal property on Monterey Peninsula and is very close to Carmel and Monterey. Check out www.pacificgrove.org for info. Try out the LaPlaya Hotel in Carmel for happy hour when you are there. On week days they really put on a spread that is included with drinks. The locals love it! Clint Eastwood owns the MISSION RANCH in Carmel. Very charming place and on the water, somewhat. This may meet your needs. It is located very near the famous Carmel Mission. EATING: Casanova's in Carmel has European charm. Well known in town. BAHAMA BILLY'S is in the Barnyard Shopping center in Carmel. This is a beautiful shopping area on Hwy 1. BILLYS has very good food, ambiance and service. And the list could go on forever. You will receive a few more recommendations from other posters. No lack of good places to eat. |
Thanks for the replies! I will continue to welcome any input from "those in the know"!

Fineally pictures of L'Auberge Carmel on their website. We're heading down in January. It looks lovely and I've read good things.

ROY'S at Spanish Bay Resort is great. Get there in time to enjoy the bagpiper at sundown. Drinks on the outdoor patio overlooking the water and golf course while the bagpiper plays. Then amble into Roy's for a fantastic dinner. Hard to beat.

Yes, Roy's is wonderful. We've had several yummy dinners there and we're never disappointed.
Last Spring our daughter joined us and she loved hearing the bagpiper play at sunset. ***kim*** ((l)) |
