Annapolis weekend
 

Scheduled to go to a conference at the Loew's Hotel March 5 and since DH's birthday is the 4th thought we'd go Friday or so and make a weekend of it. Enough to do in Annapolis for a weekend in March (chilly?) or should I think about Baltimore as well? Thanks in advance.

A weekend in Annapolis? Probably, but not much more. Spend one day walking along the main street down to the harbor area, enjoying the shops, restaurants, and historic homes. Spend the other day visiting the Naval Academy and/or a cruise (IF it's warm).

If you're bored with Annapolis after one day, make a quick trip to Baltimore to see Fort McHenry and the harbor area there.

I'm in love with where we moved six months ago so I would head over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and visit the Eastern Shore. It takes me about 45 minutes to get to Annapolis from where we live in Easton, and it's a pretty drive. I love the towns of Easton and Oxford. St. Michael's has a lot to offer for a day trip including the excellent Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. And, if I'm not mistaken, it should be a tad warmer here.

I like Annapolis and think a weekend trip there would be ideal, particularly if you like history; for my visit, I took a day trip and thought it too short. I only saw one historic house, ate at one historic tavern, explored the side streets by foot to get a feel of the lay of the land and before I knew it, it was time to turn back. Didn't have time to visit the Maryland State House, the Hammond-Harwood House, the Naval Academy, etc... Personally, I wouldn't see a need to rush and tag on Baltimore as well.
