Annapolis
Can anyone recommend a hotel?
I would like to stay at the best hotel in the area.
Thanks.

Haven't been there for a while, but the Hilton has the best location, if you want to be downtown and on the water.
If you are into a more historic feel, check out the Maryland Inn. It isn't on the water, but it is close. Make sure you check a map, because some of the hotels are on out of the way uncharming thoroughfares.

Actually, the hotel on the waterfront is the Marriott. Anyhow, the other nice chain is the Leows hotel, which is a little walk from the downtown area. Most of the accomodations in Annapolis are b&b's. You can check out annapolisbandb.com for a list and pictures of the area properties. We are going in September and staying at the Harbor View Inn, one block back from the Marriott. We wanted to try a b&b this time.
Good luck!

The only true hotel in the downtown/city dock area is the Marriott on the water that Melissa mentioned. The Maryland Inn is a quaint inn, the largest of the Historic Inns of Annapolis Group.

There is a Lowes and a brand new Holiday Inn (which is not your average HI) on West Street, the up and coming area of Downtown Annapolis, a short walk to the City Dock. All the other hotels you'll find are in the sprawling suburbs.

There used to be a nice Best Western on the edge of the restored area. Is it no longer there, or has the name changed? I remember the pool was nice, and enclosed by a red brick fence, that matched the hotel. The bus was just outside the door too, which made transportation to DC very easy. Check it out.
