Anna Maria to the Keys

Family with adult children looking for a location that would be suitable for all for a week in mid-December. I imagine a great beach, but not too congested, within walking distance of a business area (restaurants, etc.), so the kids won't get bored.

I'm thinking anywhere from Anna Maria Island, to Siesta Key and south along the coast to the Keys. We'd be looking for a two-bedroom condo/cottage at one of these locations. Not particularly fond of high-rises.

Hubby and I have been going to Captiva/Sanibel over the years, but think it would be too slow for the kids.

Thanks.

It is a high rise, but google Naples Cay. It is on the beach and within an easy bike ride or longer stroll of two different upscale shopping areas. Naples has a nice museum and concert complex not far away, and theater is available downtown. Unlike the Keys, it is easy to get to -- through Ft Myers airport (RSW)-- and they do rent by the week. Finding a cottage for a short term rental on such short notice could be difficult.

www.beachpalms.com on Siesta Key may be the answer.

The waterfront cottage is just a stone throw away from the beautiful Siesta Key beach and a minute walk to Siesta Key village with many restaurants, clubs, shops. Don't know about availability on such a short notice.

Hillview, Gulf Gate and downtown Sarasota areas are just few minutes drives. More restaurants, clubs and shopping available in all the areas. You can even take public transportation to all of the above as the bus stop is just a minute walk from the property.

We love Anna Maria , much more old timey and imo more beautiful than Siesta or Naples. no high rises, Bradenton Beach, though not my favorite part of the island has kid stuff to do.
How old are these kids? AMI has a great free trolley system to get around with.
But mid Dec is in three weeks!
