Animal Kingdom Lodge pros and cons?
My boyfriend and I are planning a vacation (no children) to WDW for October. We are interested in staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom. We would like someone to share their experiences with us. Is there anything we should not miss at the resort, or is their anything we should avoid? In addition, if you would recommend a different Disney resort, we are interested in your comments, as well. Thank you greatly for your help!

I will be there in 2 weeks, so I will post my impressions then. Frankly, I am very excited about it.

You can check trip reports and review of restaurants at this WDW resort at wdwig.com
|
go to www.disboards and click on resort discussion. there is an FAQ section on the AKL.

I would think you'd be OK..I wouldn't want to stay near Animal Kingdom in the summer..with all the heat and animal dung it would stink.

Sweetpea:

I don't think that you would be able to make an informed decision if you visited www.disboards.com. Although they DO have a ton of information, the people posting have extremely biased opinions and you will very rarely see anything negative about Disney.

I've never been to AKL (refuse to pay that much money for a place to lay my head) but I'm sure it's a lovely place. I just want to give you a heads up that the disboards fanatics, err, posters will paint a much, much rosier picture than may possibly be true.

I have also been doing some research on the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I found very positive reviews of the resort at epinions.com. Just go to the site and do a search for the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the reviews will come up. Hope this helps.

We stayed there in January and loved it! We've stayed at 5 WDW properties and would vote AKL #1 or #2. The other one(s) we really enjoyed was the Yacht & Beach Club and the Boardwalk. The only downside to AKL is that you have to take a WDW bus to get anywhere. However, that is true of a number of other WDW hotels. Enjoy!

We stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge last summer. The hotel is "Out Of This World"! I can't remember staying in a more awesome place. The animals were right infront of our balcony and there was no smell at all. The pool area is outstanding and the lodge is so beautiful, it can't be put into words.

How much this paradise costs?

Hi everyone! I just wanted to thank all of you for the WONDERFUL advice I've received on this board. I'm still trying to make my decision, but I'm using the reviews I've read here, the disboards, epinions.com, and wdwig.com to help me. I'm also very excited to hear ilsa's opinion!

Keila- When I've researched the cost for regular-value season, a savannah view room at the Animal Kingdom is approx $188.00-220.00 a night. Mrn was right: this is an pretty pricey hotel.

One more question: How are the restaurants (Boma and Jiko)? Would you recommend them?

Thanks again!
|
Sweetpea,

We stayed there last year and loved it, but a savannah view room is a must.

Enjoy,

Gerry K

PS: You can enjoy the view of the animals from your room all day and night, though some hours are better than others.
