And our puppy's new Hawaiian name will be...(drum roll please)

Mahalo to everyone for all you fantastic, witty suggestions as to our puppy's new name. After seeing our heavenly (hint) little cloud of creamy fluff, it was unanimous. Her name will be Kalani, Lani and Lani-girl for short. Mele was a very close second, but it was cast out after my 3 year old announced he would call her Smelly Mele. Thanks again for all you enthusiasm and fanatastic suggestions, Aloha

I wouldn't have had a problem with Smelly Mele. We call one of our dogs "Stinky." Her real name is Maggie. It's a long, boring story, but she comes when called. To either name.

Can't a woman be a chief?
Would a female chief be a "chiefette"?

Aloha,
Congratulations on the naming of your puppy.
An acquaintance of mine just named their puppy Lola. I don't know if I should be flattered or not.
Now I have a God-puppy. What do I buy for her? Will little Lola get whats she wants?

We don't really care if it is a boy or girl name so long as it doesn't sound too hard or masculine, like Kona which I think is a great name for a male pet. Thanks for pointing out it can mean chief, now we will have yet another nick name for her. Our older dog is Marley but we also call her Sassygirl and Oldgirl just for fun, they all suit her. Thanks again everyone!

Nice name!! [And if she lays around the porch/veranda, you can call her "lanai."]
