Pretty high season right now - but try this site http://www.anchorage-bnb.com/
Downtown is where you want to stay. Most hotels are now midtown which is 2-3 miles away. But they do offer shuttle service. Millenium Hotel is closer to airport and right on Lake Hood which has float plane traffic non-stop. Pretty interesting and nice setting. |
Depends on what you like to do. Downtown hotels are probably more expensive but within walking distance of many tourist attractions like the Saturday Market, Park Strip events, shopping, restaurants, museum, etc. The Hilton and Captain Cook are both well located. There are lots of choices, anywhere downtown between 3rd and 7th Avenue is probably okay.
Midtown is less convenient and requires a taxi or shuttle to downtown although if you get a good price it may be worth it. More midtown locations offer things included in lodging like free breakfast buffets - Hilton Homewood Suites is an example. |
Here are some links you may find helpful. Don't know your price range. Also, you're coming during prime tourist season so book before arriving. The vacancies may be limited.
Copper Whale Inn http://www.alaskaone.com/copperwhale/ Steps away from restaurants, galleries and the Coastal Trail. Captain Cook www.captaincook.com |
I just stayed at Susitna B & B and Oscar Gill B & B and enjoyed them both. We walked a couple blocks to the Green Market, Museum, shops, etc. I recommend them both. Good luck.
