Larry, you did know that the Anasazi Indians died out centuries ago, didn't you? They, the Sinaguans, the Hohokam and others are long gone. Up at Four Corners, you run into Navajo. Farther west and south, it's Hopi Land. North of Four Corners, the Ute. Probably the Chaco Canyon ruins in New Mexico are the finest of the Anasazi ruins. Of course, near Cortez, CO, be sure to explore Mesa Verde.

Would the Heard Museum in Phoenix have a section about the Anasazis?? Spent a very brief pm there last year--have to go back. <BR>

Chaco Canyon was fabulous! The road there is dirt so be prepared. I went early in the morning and a Coyote ran ahead of me about a mile on the road before heading under the fence. It was wonderful! The ranger said they do that with the first car down the road, the car scares up the rabbits from their holes. I think the best way to learn is by seeing where they lived and how. There is quite a bit to see, you can camp there but it fills quickly. Watch for snakes this time of year!!

What's this??? . . . How, Why on earth did Fodor's open this previously closed thread? It's from 1998!!! And what on earth does flagrl2001's post have to do with the OP? I think we may be back in the Fodor's Twilight Zone, folks!! :)
