Anahola?

We bought our tickets for Kauai! Yay! Now, I'm trying to find a place to stay. On our last visit, we stayed across the street from Anini Beach and really enjoyed it. I'm finding that most Anini rentals are taken, so I'm on the hunt. I found this place http://www.kauaiproperties.com/vacat...ula-Beach.html
Anyone know the lay of the land there? I don't remember much about Anahola, but isn't that where the deeeelish Duane's Ono Char is located? I don't think we visited Anahold Bay. Is it a nice beach? Especially for a 4 year old? We'll be there end of May, beginning of June. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Been visiting Kauai for 14 yrs but have sometimes felt uncomfortable at locals' Anahola Beach. But that section at Aliomanu is lovely and ad looks great.

Considering it's May/June have you also thought of the north past Anini. Hanalei Bay can be a giant calm bathtub in summer and lovely for a 4 yr old.

Thanks for your replies!

"Been visiting Kauai for 14 yrs but have sometimes felt uncomfortable at locals' Anahola Beach" ---jojo, I wondered about that. I wasn't sure how locals would feel about tourists being there. We have a place in Hanalei that we're considering as well. It is just over what we originally planned to spend. Any recommendations for places around $1600?

The rental company hasn't returned my email yet about the Anahola rental.

I am not familiar with that rental agency. I did a quick google, which I always do when considering a property. I found it odd that it is only listed on tripadvisor, flipkey, and the rental company in you url. That doesn't make the property suspect, it just makes me cautious. Most properties when you google the name of the cottage will have hits with multiple listings within the Kauai real estate community and vrbo and cyber and others.

For me I have had great luck with rentals in Hawaii. But I like to be able to google and find a long list of agents, the owner and property manager. I didn't find that with you property. But again, I just googled for a minute. It may be a fantastic property that wants to keep a low profile. My gut says proceed with caution.

I just looked at their homepage and it is possible that since Sue was born and raised in Hawaii that the owners of the rental are more comfortable having her represent them. That area is very old school hawaii and there is a degree of protectiveness. Again, I would investigate the listing company. It could be a wonderful experience.

Thanks for the advice! I will do some investigation on the rental company. I feel like my head is spinning with everything I've researched. lol It feels like I've looked at a million rental properties...and that's just primarily North Shore.
