Anacortes - Airport travel time?

OK locals, I need some help.

Leaving Anacortes (car) @ 7:55 am,
and....
Airplane departs Seattle Airport @ 11:05 am.

Didn't realize it's OVER 100 miles away!
Have heard of the notorious I-5.

Is this do-able or should I get closer to the airport?

Thanks, JCG, tampa

If getting closer to the airport is an option, I'd say do it, especially if it's a rental car needing returning etc. Otherwise while it might be do-able, everything would have to work pretty well in order for you not to be running to the gate. There are several places en route where I-5 can get congested. Do NOT, however, think I-405 through Bellevue is a speedier alternative, far from it.

There will probably be traffic, so I'd say it will take about 2 1/2 hours from Anacortes to Seattle. But don't forget you have to be at the aiport in good timing-if you are going international its two hours ahead, if not, one hour before departure.

And if you're arriving by ferry in Anacortes (is that why you can't leave Anacortes earlier?), do NOT count on being on time! Plus, it can take 15-20 minutes to unload the ferry. If you're traveling on a weekday, I'd say your chances of making your flight are slim, as the trip will take at LEAST 2.5 hours, more if you hit traffic, which is likely.
