Amtrak to Harvard?
I'm going to an event at Harvard (a game at the Bright Hockey Center), and was planning to take Amtrak from NYC to Boston. I've never been to Boston before, though, and wasn't sure how convenient it was to take a taxi or train from the Amtrak Station in Boston to Harvard. Any suggestions on the best way to get to the Bright Center from the station or hotels near the arena?

No problem. Red line "T" goes from South Station in Boston (where your train will be arriving) to Harvard Square. Did just that a few years back; cabs are also waiting in front of South Station if you prefer.

Be aware that the Bright Hockey Center is actually on the other side of the river in Allston, probably about 3/4 of a mile from Harvard Square in Cambridge. You could take the T and walk from the Square, but depending on the time of day of your arrival and whether you have any luggage or equipment to carry, you might prefer to take a taxi, if you don't mind spending a little more.

Also account for delays. From my experience taking Amtrak to Boston, it's been late more than half the time.

Something else to consider is limoliner (www.limoliner.com). It a luxury bus that runs from the midtown Hilton to the back bay Hilton. I haven't used it, but have heard some good reviews.
