Amtrak station in Williamsburg

We (husband, 12-year-old, and myself) had planned to drive to Colonial Williamsburg from Southeastern Pennsylvania on Dec 9 and go home on Dec 10. Unfortunately, DH fell down my parent's stairs on Sunday and cracked a rib. It appears that he may not be up to a drive of that length, and as a contingency plan, DS and I would make the same journey via Amtrak, which is actually cheaper and more convenient in this instance than Greyhound. My question is this, is there public transportation I can take from the station to our hotel (Sheraton Four Points Historic District), or will I need to call a cab? It looks like it is in what I consider walking distance, but not with luggage and only a rudimentary sense of where I'm going. We are still hoping that DH will be recovered enough to make the trip, but wanted to have a contingency plan in place.

Why not call the hotel and ask about transportation--they might even have a shuttle to pick you up..

www.williamsburgtransport.com. The Gray Line is the one you want. I would contact them to make sure it is running when you want it to. Otherwise there should be cabs waiting.
My son takes the Amtrak from 30th ST station to Williamsburg. It is very easy. You will not be able to check luggage, though so don't bring alot.
If you exit the train station and go to the main road and turn left, hotel will be on that road. It will be a far walk with luggage and it will be dark at night.
Are you really coming for only one night? The train is 5 hours.

Yes, just one night. We have discussed it as a day trip, and felt it was just a little too far to be practical. DH likes to drive, and we thought it would make a nice christmassy overnight. If we have to take the train, it will turn it into a somewhat different trip, but fortunately the train times are not too different from our original plans (out of Philly at 5am, leaving to go back by late afternoon on the 10th). DS and I both really enjoy trains, so the length of the trip is not too bad. What he would complain about is a long walk to the hotel. Thanks for the bus information, I was really hoping that there was one. And hopefully, I won't even need it, as DH was feeling better this morning.

It will be a fun trip. The Sheraton is walkable to CW and, in fact, across the street from a horse pasture. Some nearby restaurants are Christiana Campbells (the CW tavern), the Colonial (a breakfast and lunch spot on the way to 2nd St.), Second St restaurant (good burgers etc), La Tolteca (mexican behind the hotel that Colonial is next to)

Thank you all so much! Mr. Persi is feeling much better, and we will be driving after all. Wish us luck! We're really looking forward to it, and will save train trips for another time.
