Amsterdam Hospitality?
 

I have been looking for hotel accommodation using Expedia and see many hotels described as offering Amsterdam Hospitality. What does this mean? Anyone have any ideas?

To clarify...I have been looking for hotels in New York where they are described as offering Amsterdam hospitality.

It's a big mystery to me - which hotels?

That is interesting! I wonder what it means. A red light district in the lobby? "Coffee shops" that specialize in something other than coffee? :-)

The Bentley in Upper East side. Is it a dodgy place?

There is apparently a group of small hotels in New York with the name Amsterdam Hospitality Group. I don't think "Amsterdam Hospitality" siginfiies anything other than that. Have never seen or heard of this hotel (Bentley) - but have not lived on the east side for some years so that doesn't mean anything. I have only two comments

1) the location is not good for a tourist - very far east and not at all convenient to transport - you will find yourself taking a lot of cabs

2) the rates are suspiciously low - making me wonder about the quality

I'm not sure what rates they are offering - it was only $135 on their web site which is kind of scary.

I would definitely look for a hotel with a better location and access to public transport.

It's the name of the company that owns the hotels.

The Bentley is a fine if a bit tired hotel on York Avenue at 62nd Street. Rates are low because of the location -- far east -- and the rooms tend to be very small. Hey, you get what you pay for.

My friend stayed there about a year ago and I had a chance to see her room. It was very nice, not any more small than any other NY hotel. The furniture and linens looked fine. The lobby is also nice and the service seemed good (I was there with her when she checked in). The rates are low mostly because it is not an easy location for tourists. Pretty far east -- several blocks from the subway. Other than that, if the price is right it's not a bad choice.
