Amish country Ohio

We are interested in visiting the Amish Country around Berlin and Millersburg, Ohio.
Does anyone have any recommendations for restaurants or places to stay? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

nig, we live about an hour away from this area and often take rides just to enjoy the scenery. I can recommend Donna's for accomodations, there are a lot to choose from and I love Berlin. http://www.donnasofberlin.com/berlin...tractions.htm# There are a lot of restaurants to choose from that serve the Amish style meals. One that we recently ate at is: Der Dutchman in Sugarcreek: http://www.dhgroup.com/en/seg/restaurants.php The food was buffet and very, very good and I usually do not like buffets. I'm sorry not to remember any other names. Do not visit on Sundays as you will not find many things open.

Thanks I checked Donna's out and they are booked for when I am going to be in the area. Do you have any other suggestions for lodgings?

Thanks

Melissa, you might want to check out the new hotel that is supposed to open in Berlin in July: http://www.berlingrandehotel.com/ Also check out the Carlisle Inn at Walnut Creek (close to Berlin) We have eaten at the DerDutchman on the property and it is excellent, priced reasonably and the food was really good. The Inn looked as if it were confortable and very clean: http://www.dhgroup.com/en/wc/ All the propery looked as if it were maintained often.

Melissa, also: http://www.dhgroup.com/en/sc/ This is another Carlisle Inn but in Sugarcreek (also close) It's been awhile since I've eaten at their restaurant but I remember it being good.

We did take our trip to Berlin OH in May and we stayed at the Graystone Cottages. The cottage we stayed in was very nice and the breakfast was included-this is not a typical B&B-they leave the cinnamon rolls, granola, juice, milk, etc. in the frig and you have it the next morning, but it worked out great for us. We enjoyed walking around Berlin-it rained the whole time we were there so that put a damper on our trip(literally), but there are a lot of cute shops within walking distance of the Graystone and we loved seeing all the buggies.

My wife grew up an hour north in Wadsworth. When we visit her family, we often do a tour of Amish Country around Holmes County. Restaurants I remember enjoying were the Alpine-Alpa in Wilmot, Der Dutchman in Walnut Creek and Chalet in the Valley in Millersburg. However, I have read that the Alpine-Alpa has had a change of owners since I've eaten there last and the establishment is in decline.

Good to know that about Alpine -Alpa

We have stayed at the Inn at Honey Run several times and it is wonderful. Over the years there are more and more restaurants and motels in the area (as well as more people) but it is still fun to drive on the back roads and visit all the Amish Areas. We always enjoy going to Lehman's Hardware Store in Kidron too, just to see some of the things you don't see anywhere else. We have seen lots of Amish shopping there as well as at the market next door. It is such a fun and interesting area.

Sounds great. Thanks for the ideas.
