Patty - you get a sign up bonus mileage (I think 10,000 miles) but that is all for the Delta one. Sadly we do not fly often (maybe twice a year) because hubby's job does not allow it so this card works best for us. I would LOVE to fly enough to warrant getting the regular platinum card.
Rkk - I have never had a problem with their companion price. It has always been comparable to what I would have had to pay for one person anyway. As for only using Delta, I knew that when I signed up for this card but since I live in Atlanta and we are the hub for Delta, it works for me. Even before getting the car, I primarily flew Delta anyway. |

From the point of view of price only, two discount tix are a better deal than a 'free' companion ticket. But discount tix are generally subject to more restrictions than a ticket that is 'companion' to a full-fare ticket with virtually no restrictions. It is true that either way the companion ticket isn't 'free' but it is almost certainly cheaper than buying a second unrestricted full-fare ticket without the card. For many, the flexibility isn't worth it. But for someone trying to vacation with someone whose plans might change at the last minute, it might be. |
Sadly, I don't earn enough to have $25,000 to spend on credit card purchase in a year. So, I can't get any MQM either. [Any way, I won't get enough to qualify for DL Medalion, with or without the card.]

beachdreams,
You should also be receiving 10,000 MQM's each year that you charge at least $25,000. This is an annual benefit that's in addition to the sign up bonus and is only valid on the Platinum Delta Amex. See this link for details: https://www124.americanexpress.com/c...s.jsp#skymiles It's the item right under "Free Companion Tickets" |
