sanparis, sorry to hear about the Florida house. We enjoyed it a lot when we stayed there several years ago. Oh well will have to try one of the others as we really like Fernandina Beach.

We were also very upset w/our friends leaving. We spent several New Years' there & had become good friends w/the employees and owners, as well as the locals that hung out there. I think they recently did away w/the buffet/country style dinner as well.

FYI, a few of the properties mentioned in this thread have since closed due to finances. The Hoyt House, the Ash Street Inn, and the Florida House Inn are currently out of business. Also, the Addison was bought by new owners about 2 years ago and they have yet to have a bad review since then. Elizabeth Pointe is still a great beach front Inn too - definitely get tons of positive reviews.
